Zach Schwartz Fiber Art (and other fascinations)
Hey there!
Thanks for stopping by! Let me introduce myself and my site. This space is where I can display my artistry, interests, and ideas.
My name is Zach Schwartz. I grew up and am based in the Greater Boston area, where my family has been rooted since the early 1900s. I trained professionally in Boston and London as a classical musician and now enjoy a lively career in arts administration. I see my experiences in the music world as directly influencing and inspiring my love of the visual art world. Whether performing on stage, presenting to a crowd, or displaying a new project fresh from my loom, I love to create, teach, and share. All art is connected.
My fiber art practices started many years ago with macramé, but I increasingly found myself drawn to elements therein of color, woven structures, and design - more so than function. After spending some time exploring the intersection of color through paint, at the recommendation of an acquaintance I bought my first loom. And discovered all of my interests finally converged. I’ve been totally hooked since. Please enjoy my Portfolio!
Of course, I love the art of others as well. After years of collecting, creating, learning, and decorating my own home in Brighton, I set up an Etsy shop called Homaged, which has allowed me to share my interests in antiques, collectibles, and vintage homewares. You will find a growing library of historical information and databases on here, too. Smaller fiber creations, such as earrings and bags, can be found for purchase on that site.
My large-scale woven works - my primary focus - are available for purchase, exhibition, and commission. Please contact me for more information - I would love to share these works with you.
Welcome! I hope you enjoy.
